With the university census date coming up on 31 March 2017, many young students will be questioning whether a three-year learning pathway towards an uncertain career is really the right choice for them.

It has become increasingly difficult for university graduates to find full-time positions at the completion of their studies, with prospective employers citing their lack of work experience and the right business skills to hit the ground running.

A recent article in The Guardian stated that ‘soft skills’ such as “critical thinking and problem-solving, communication and presentation skills” are the attributes today that will benefit young people in their efforts to step onto the career ladder.

This is why St Patrick’s Institute of Education has a tailored curriculum focused on extending practical business knowledge and skills, with a series of additional workshops for students on professional presentation and interview skills, as well as Social Media for Business training.

We have a dedicated Job Placement Program, which includes coaching and training for job interviews and applications throughout the study year, as well as a week-long placement in a top city firm of the student’s choice. Our students love our vibrant city campus, our four day study week, and the fact that our learning curriculum focuses on helping them achieve tangible job outcomes.

We achieve this through our enviable Career Partner Network, which has been built through decades of establishing and maintain solid relationships with industry leaders across the legal, accountancy, health, property management, transport, travel and business services sectors.

Each student is also afforded individual attention from our team of dedicated and highly-qualified industry trainers during their studies, to ensure they achieve their personal best.

Graduating with a St Patrick’s full-time Diploma of BSB50215 Business or BSB50415 Business Administration puts our students ahead of the rest at interview time. Over 95% of our students step straight into great entry-level positions with some of Sydney’s top business and law firms – many on starting salaries of $45k per annum. Which is not bad after just 40 weeks of study.

Enrolments are now open for our April 2017 Student Cohort intake, aimed at providing young people who may have started university this year but feel it’s not the right path for them, or for those who completed Year 12 last year and have still been undecided about which way to head in their future careers.

In just 40 weeks, St Patrick’s Institute of Education provides an encouraging and supportive learning environment that helps our graduates step straight into their chosen careers.

Our full-time Diploma courses can also be used as a stepping-stone into further tertiary study, with credits being awarded towards a Bachelor of Business degree through the Australian Catholic University, the University of Notre Dame Australia and online through the University of New England.
